Today I attended my very first WordCamp, right here in Dhaka — WordCamp Dhaka 2025.
It turned out to be a gentle, enjoyable, and inspiring day surrounded by people who share the same love for WordPress.

I bought a Micro-Sponsor ticket, mainly to make sure my costs were covered, but it also felt good to contribute to the event in a small way. Even before things officially started, I could feel the community energy all around.
One of the most surprising and inspiring moments was meeting a 7th-grade student, barely 13 years old, attending WordCamp to learn and connect. A WordPress enthusiast at that age — I can only imagine what kind of magic he’ll create by the time he’s 18.
Entry & Registration
The entry process was a bit hectic. The QR code scan failed a few times, and then my ticket status showed “Already Scanned.” Eventually, I got in — but I had to come back an hour later to finally collect my attendee card, thanks to the crowd. Unfortunately, neither my colleague nor I received the official event t-shirt, which was honestly a little heartbreaking.

Sessions & Booths
I attended a few sessions — they were decent, though not deeply technical. Once the swag rush settled, I spent time visiting sponsor booths. Asked questions about their products and how they worked. I think I caught a few of them off guard — they probably weren’t expecting someone to ask about the actual products instead of just collecting stickers and key-chains.
One particularly informative chat was with someone from the AppDevs team. We discussed topics like LLCs and payment handling, which was genuinely useful for me as a business owner and developer.

Food & Event Timing
I skipped the breakfast pack since I’d already eaten at a nearby restaurant, but lunch was good — much better than I expected for such a large crowd. The only downside was the timing: lunch, prayer breaks, and sessions didn’t align very well. I’m sure the organizers had planned everything carefully, but things still got a bit messy in execution.
Final Thoughts
Despite the few hiccups, I’m very glad I attended.
WordCamp Dhaka 2025 was a memorable experience — from meeting young developers to chatting with sponsors and soaking in the open-source spirit. It gave me a real sense of how vibrant and diverse the WordPress community in Bangladesh is.

I’m already looking forward to joining WordCamps in other countries to better understand the global community and the deeper purpose behind these events.
